Abstract

Bamboo handicraft SMEs have significant potential to support the economic growth of rural communities, yet they often face challenges in product promotion. One effective visual promotion tool is the banner; however, most SME actors lack the skills to design and produce banners that are attractive and communicative. This community service aims to enhance the capacity of SME actors in creating promotional media through learning by doing training. The implementation method consists of three stages: preparation (observation, need assessment, and equipment preparation), implementation (counseling, demonstration, independent practice, and design review), and evaluation and monitoring. The results indicate increased participants’ understanding of the importance of promotional media, improved technical skills in designing banners, and the availability of ready-to-use promotional banners. The participatory and practice-based approach proved effective in enhancing SME actors’ skills and awareness regarding visual marketing strategies. This activity provides practical contributions to improving the competitiveness of SME products and academic contributions in developing practice-based training models.
