Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the STAD type cooperative learning model on chemistry learning outcomes on the subject matter of the reaction rate of class XI MIA students at SMAN 7 Mataram in the 2019/2020 school year. This research was a quasi-experiment whose design was a post-test only nonequivalent control group. The population in this study were all students of class XI MIA SMAN 7 Mataram. The method used for sampling was the random sampling method. The sample in this study was class XI MIA 2 as the experimental class and class XI MIA 3 as the control class. The experimental class was treated using the STAD type cooperative learning model, while the control class was treated using the conventional learning model. Test the hypothesis was tested using the t-test. The statistical results of the t-test at a significant level of 5% indicate that tcount is greater than ttable (2.70 and 1.99 respectively) which implies that Ho is rejected. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a better effect from the application of the STAD type cooperative learning learning model on the learning outcomes of chemistry on the reaction rate material for class XI MIA SMAN 7 Mataram in academic year 2019/2020
